About the role
The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing client invoices and supporting attorneys and legal staff. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Edit prebills to facilitate time and disbursement transfers, time splits, on account transfers, time adjustments, and disbursement adjustments.
- Print, sort, and distribute prebills to billing attorneys for review.
- Create drafts and finalize computerized invoices for attorneys' approval.
- Maintain accurate billing addresses and monitor client billing statuses.
- Enter exemptions and manage write-offs and monthly exemptions for billing purposes.
- Input and update alternate rates in the accounting system.
- Provide billing statistics and reports to attorneys and legal staff using Excel spreadsheets.
- Communicate with attorneys and clients to ensure billing deadlines are met and resolve billing issues.
- Participate in monthly check-in meetings with the billing manager to update on work in progress and troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and follow up as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of law firm billing experience.
- Previous Aderant/CMS experience is preferred.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
