About the role
The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing client invoices and supporting attorneys and legal staff with billing-related tasks. The position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Edit prebills to facilitate time and disbursement transfers, time splits, on account transfers, time adjustments, and disbursement adjustments.
- Print, sort, and distribute prebills to billing attorneys for review.
- Create drafts and finalize computerized invoices for attorneys' approval.
- Maintain client billing addresses and ensure accuracy and timeliness of information.
- Enter exemptions for billing and monitor their status through month-end.
- Manage and approve write-offs and monthly exemptions for billing.
- Input and update alternate rates in the accounting system.
- Provide billing statistics to attorneys and legal staff using Excel spreadsheets.
- Contact attorneys and legal support staff to address billing issues and deadlines.
- Communicate with clients and internal departments to resolve billing inquiries and gather feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of law firm billing experience.
- Previous Aderant/CMS experience is preferred.
