Billing Specialist

About the role

The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for assigned accounts. This position requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Research and resolve incomplete invoices
• Timely collection of payments for assigned accounts
• Prepare time & material billings for submission to customers
• Audit and update billing records
• Achieve and maintain billing metrics
• Communicate and resolve issues with customers and operations teams
• Ensure timely submission of lien releases
• Collaborate with A/R Specialist and credit team for collections
• Monitor billing status of ongoing projects
• Generate and review billing reports and reconciliations
• Perform general clerical duties including copying, faxing, mailing, and filing
• Interact with project teams to ensure accurate billing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a billing-related role in a construction setting
• Experience with accounting/billing and Cost Plus Billing preferred

Qualifications

• Demonstrate ability to work closely with operations and other finance departments
• Adapt quickly to new invoicing procedures
• Show strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
• Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others
