Billing Specialist,
Your Role
The Billing Specialist will oversee the billing process for customers and patients. They will coordinate and execute processes of front-end medical billing of commercial insurance and government program claims for all Cardiology devices. This consists of: Ensure all posting of charges are accurate, submit and re-submit billing data to the appropriate insurance providers, process claims, resolve denial instances, and achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided across all lines of business (Commercial/Medicare/Medicaid, etc). The position is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of billing operations by following federal and state billing regulations.
What You'll Be Doing
- Review patient accounts, supporting documentation, and charges for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with billing guidelines.
- Conduct quality audits of patient files to ensure claims are billed correctly and meet payer rules and regulations.
- Generate and validate commercial and government insurance claims prior to submission.
- Submit claims through EDI clearinghouses, process paper claims as needed, and manage supporting documentation.
- Monitor and resolve unbillable revenue, claim rejections, unbilled claims, and other billing exceptions within required timeframes.
- Follow up with insurance carriers regarding claim status, payment discrepancies, and outstanding issues.
- Apply working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding to ensure accurate documentation, billing, and claim processing.
- Maintain current knowledge of reimbursement policies and billing regulations, identify process improvement opportunities, and support special projects as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree or higher preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a medical related business environment required
- Billing database software experience required
- Clearinghouse and payer portal experience preferred
- Knowledge of insurance industry and third-party payer processes
- Proven data entry skills required
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications
- Must be proficient in Excel
Pay
The estimated base salary for this position is $44,800 to $61,600 annually. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
Schedule
Minimum of 3 days a week onsite.
