Billing Specialist

The Billing Specialist will oversee the billing process for customers and patients, coordinating and executing front-end medical billing of commercial insurance and government program claims for all Cardiology devices. This role ensures efficient billing operations by following federal and state billing regulations.
Responsibilities
- Review supporting documentation and posted charges for completeness and accuracy; identify and correct missing or inaccurate information.
- Complete quality reviews of patient files to ensure claims comply with each payer’s rules and regulations.
- Generate commercial insurance and government program claims in the system and review for accuracy; conduct regular audits.
- Perform follow-up functions for timely processing of claims, including EDI submission via clearinghouse, printing, sorting attachments, and mailing when applicable.
- Assist with managing unbillable revenue, clearinghouse rejected claims, and other reports daily; provide updates to management as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of billing regulations, insurance-specific policies, and company procedures.
- Identify areas for improved documentation or efficiency and communicate opportunities to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor.
- Follow up on unbilled claims within required billing time frames.
- Resolve discrepancies with insurance companies regarding payments.
- Apply working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes; ensure proper documentation of ICD-10 diagnoses.
- Perform quality reviews of patient and insurance accounts for follow-up as needed.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a medical-related business environment.
- Billing database software experience required; clearinghouse and payer portal experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and third-party payer processes.
- Proven data entry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage workload independently.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel.

Schedule
This role follows a flexible workplace policy, requiring a minimum of 3 days a week onsite to support collaboration and connection.
Pay
The estimated base salary for this position is $44,800 to $61,600 annually. Individual pay is based on location, skills, expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
