Job Summary
The Research Business coordinator is responsible for billing activities in support of the CARTI Research financial network, which includes research invoicing, payment reconciliation, clinical trial budgets, tracking performance and accounts receivable.
Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Verify that all required documents are in place to bill a clinical trial
- Track invoicing frequency across the research catalog
- Maintain clinical trial billing portfolio
- Utilize sponsor billing portals to obtain payment promptly
- Build enrollment logs utilizing the billing CTMS
- Understand payment requirements and billing benchmarks for open trials
- Invoice Sponsors for all research activities, including pass-through costs and study visits, per the clinical trial contracts
- Track all billed invoices and follow up with study sponsors in an organized fashion
- Track and post receivables
- Prepare required reports, including A/R aging and month-end reconciliation
- Resolve payment discrepancies in a timely fashion
- Correspond with CARTI billing as needed for patient services inquiries
- Answer A/R inquiries and follow up with the supervisor
- Provide reconciliation for payments to subcontracted practices promptly per the contract
- Provide patient stipend payments to coordinators
- Conduct research, billing quality assurance activities, in addition to monthly reconciliation of research coordinator fees
- Afford assistance in the development and design of training materials related to research billing and financial management in collaboration with clinical trial staff
- Develop and conduct training for staff compliance with research billing
- May work with other administrators on the procurement process and advise in communications regarding funding agencies, subcontractors, and others at the instruction and direction of others.
Education, Certification, Licensure, And Registration
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in accounting or business (bachelor’s degree in a similar field accepted, OR high school diploma with greater than 5 years of experience in billing/accounting)
- Must obtain GCP certification in the first 30 days of hire.
- CCRR or CCRC or Professional certification within 12 months of exam eligibility.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Previous experience in clinical research is preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Experience with CTMS (Clinical Trial Management Systems) preferred
- Accounting skills and ability to assess business needs
- Proficient in computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience with QuickBooks preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong team player
- Exude high levels of professionalism and responsiveness when working with vendors and outside contractors
- Ability to maintain healthy working relationships in a fast-paced, growing work environment
- Demonstrates problem-solving skills
