Overview

The Billing Compliance Education Specialist oversees creation and implementation of documentation, coding, and billing compliance education for various healthcare professionals and staff at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

Job Duties

• Collaborates with the Director of Physician Billing Compliance Services to design and publish educational materials and tests using E-learning authoring software.
• Ensures all online educational/training material is revised or updated promptly after coding/payer/regulatory changes.
• Determines training objectives for future online educational initiatives/courses and in-services.
• Delivers one-on-one or in-person education when requested and available, which may require travel within the UF Health network.
• Aids practice plan administrators in resolving educational or training issues and disseminating regulatory information.
• Collaborates with the Physician Billing Compliance Services auditing team to conduct educational sessions with providers and billing/coding staff.
• Responds to email inquiries from medical departments, Revenue Cycle, and Patient Accounting and Collections with authoritative citations.
• Records inquiries and responses in the investigative case management system (Case IQ).
• Oversees continuing education on existing documentation, coding, and billing compliance concepts.
• Analyzes adverse billing compliance audit results and creates targeted remedial educational courses.
• Creates/maintains the official UFJPI E/M Coding Tools for correct code assignment.

Qualifications

• Experience with LMS environments and eLearning authoring.
• Five (5) years of medical billing/claims experience including coding, medical terminology, and third-party reimbursement.
• Experience in adult training environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CCS-P).
• PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree.
