The Billing Associate Specialist

This position pays between $17.00 - $18.65/hr based on experience. The onsite position is located at Cincinnati Blue Ash Office, Cincinnati, OH.

Job Responsibilities

  • Resolve multidisciplinary claim edits—including registration, coding, revenue integrity, and billing—to ensure accurate and timely claim submission.
  • Works daily electronic 277s, RTPs, failed bills, late charges, rebills, and failed claims within host systems and billing vendors, while also processing hardcopy claims and attaching required documentation such as EOBs and medical records.
  • Collaborate closely with Billing and Denials Management to identify trends, recommend new claim rules and edits, and support compliant billing practices, in addition to monitoring electronic claim transfers and helping manage unbilled accounts across all systems.
  • Contact patients, insurers, and third parties for missing insurance or billing information; prepare documents for audits; update tracking and Excel reports; and create SOPs, policies, flowcharts, and training materials to support staff development.
  • Aids in new client implementations by preparing unbilled reports and playbooks, participating in unbilled meetings, and helping drive performance improvements related to DNFB, DNFS, and key billing metrics.
  • May float to cover absentee staffing needs and are expected to remain current on state and federal coding, billing, and revenue integrity changes, ensuring compliance for assigned clients and communicating updates to the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • 1 to 3 Years of Experience in Hospital Billing.
  • Experience in Hospital Operations, Compliance, and Provider Relations Preferred.
  • Insurance Follow-up Experience.
  • Home Health Care Experience (Billing Side).
  • Epic Experience.
  • Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and Managed Care Experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Required: 1-2 years’ experience hospital billing.
  • Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences.
