About the Opportunity
The Billing Analyst is responsible for managing all aspects of client billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client guidelines. This role supports the financial operations by preparing invoices, handling billing inquiries, and maintaining billing records. The position contributes to the organization by facilitating timely and precise billing processes that enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Generate and distribute prebills and proformas; assist with month-end processing; draft correspondence
- Perform time and expense transfers and edits; generate reports; manage billing timeliness
- Allocate unapplied funds; perform write-offs and cancellations; post and mail invoices
- Prepare various attorney/client invoices including fixed fee, batch, retainer, and contingency
- Ensure accuracy of billing, determine appropriate formats, and manage client billing requirements
- Perform time entry narrative edits and proofreading
- Absorb billing inquiries and troubleshoot issues
- Review and edit time entries for client guideline compliance
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to track billing functions
- Handle special projects and ensure adherence to billing policies and client-specific needs
Requirements
- Associates or advanced degree preferred in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or equivalent experience
- Minimum two years of billing experience in a law firm or professional organization
- Experience with client Document Management Systems (DMS)
- Proficient in creating spreadsheets, data manipulation, and report generation
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective team player with ownership of individual assignments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working across functions and interfacing with senior management, vendors, and clients
- Able to handle sensitive matters confidentially
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Experience with Aderant, Elite/Elite 3E, or business intelligence products preferred
- 10-key calculator proficiency preferred
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The pay range for this role at the noted location is $25/hour to $36.97/hour. Compensation may include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
