Position Overview Financial Services company Client Billing department is comprised of revenue professionals across Billing, Reporting, and Cash Applications, responsible for calculating, invoicing, and collecting separate account revenue globally.Title: Billing Analyst / Billing AssociateLocation: Newport Beach, CaliforniaDuration: Contract - Potential to Convert to PermanentCompensation: $33 - $38/hourWork Requirements: 100% Onsite, Monday-Thursday | Standard Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PMStart: Late October / Early NovemberSkillset / Experience:Billing Analyst / Billing AssociateOur client is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and detail-oriented Billing Analyst / Billing Associate to join the Finance/FP&A organization supporting institutional investment-management accounts.This is an early-career Associate opportunity with significant hands-on training and development. The Billing Analyst will manage a book of approximately 300 institutional accounts, each with its own fee schedule, AUM calculations and billing requirements. Account complexity will vary significantly, and the individual will begin with less complex accounts while developing the knowledge required to manage increasingly sophisticated billing relationships.This is not simply a processing role. The position requires strong analytical thinking, accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, ownership and an interest in using technology and automation to improve processes.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and validate fixed and incentive fee invoices for institutional accountsManage customized billing requirements and individual fee schedulesSource and analyze data from multiple systems and databases, including SQL and OracleValidate billing results and investigate discrepancies or anomaliesCalculate monthly revenue to support GL reportingPerform variance analysis and investigate out-of-tolerance resultsApply accounting concepts, including understanding of the accrual cyclePerform reconciliations and data validationExecute assigned billing controls and maintain organized, audit-ready documentationSupport second-level review and quality-control processesIdentify inefficiencies and recommend process improvementsSupport automation initiatives using available technologiesDevelop an understanding of billing data, fee structures, AUM calculations and system outputsCollaborate with Finance, Legal, Account Management and other internal stakeholdersTake ownership of assigned accounts and deliverables while meeting critical deadlinesTechnology & Analytical SkillsStrong Microsoft Office skills, particularly ExcelExcel formulas, VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables requiredAbility and willingness to learn new applications and systemsExposure to SQL and Oracle databases is valuableInterest in using AI and automation to enhance productivityOpportunity to utilize tools such as Alteryx and Python for process improvement and automationStrong aptitude for working with data from multiple sourcesPosition RequirementsBachelor's degree requiredDegree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or related fieldStrong Accounts Receivable / Billing aptitudeSolid accounting fundamentals and understanding of the accrual cycleExperience in billing, accounts receivable, financial analysis, accounting, financial operations or a related functionStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsProfessional corporate presence and strong interpersonal skillsDemonstrated initiative, ownership and accountabilityAbility to identify problems and develop ideas for solutionsGrowth mindset and intellectual curiosityAbility to learn complex processes and progressively assume greater responsibilityPreferred Industry BackgroundExperience in one or more of the following environments is preferred:Investment ManagementAsset ManagementAlternative InvestmentsFinancial ServicesBankingInstitutional FinanceIndustry flexibility is available for candidates with strong transferable billing, AR, accounting, analytical and financial operations experience.Role EnvironmentMost institutional accounts are billed quarterly in arrearsThe first month following quarter-end is a particularly high-volume periodEach account has customized billing requirements and fee schedulesAccount complexity ranges from straightforward to highly complexAccuracy is critical when reviewing AUM, fee schedules and market-related inputsExtensive hands-on training and peer mentoring will be providedThe individual will progressively take ownership of more complex accountsSuccessful candidates will demonstrate initiative, resilience, curiosity and the ability to thrive under pressure About INSPYR Solutions Technology is our focus and quality is our commitment.
