The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks a Biller III to join our team. About the role
- Responsible for billing and collecting monies for hospital charges from various payers
- Performs patient accounting functions including payment posting and reconciliation
- Ensures timely collection of accounts within assigned inventory
- Maintains accounts using a computerized billing system
Responsibilities
- Identify and bill for services according to CPT, HCPCS, and ICD billing codes
- Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy
- Communicate with payers, patients, and staff regarding billing issues
- Create and edit spreadsheets to manage patient accounts
- Resolve routine and non-routine billing errors independently
Requirements
- Knowledge of revenue cycle processes and non-governmental/governmental payers
- Good math and communication skills
- Familiarity with electronic payment posting and payer enrollment process
- Experience using computers and related programs
Qualifications
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD billing codes
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
- Experience with spreadsheet creation and editing
- Strong math and communication skills
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective data and numerical data entry skills
- Ability to resolve routine and non-routine errors independently
