About the role
The School of Information (iSchool) at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) invites applications for the Bill Daniel Endowed Professorship in Archival Enterprise. The iSchool seeks internationally recognized scholars who advance our understanding of the nature and role of data, information, and cultural records across all areas of human endeavor. Successful candidates are likely to currently hold or be eligible to hold a full professor position in a peer institution. Special attention is given to candidates with innovative research programs that can help the school envision an inclusive and discipline-wide focus on the centrality of accurate records to knowledge production in the sciences, the arts, and the humanities.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for archival enterprise through teaching, research, and service
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new archival practices and technologies
- Collaborate with other faculty members and students to explore interdisciplinary approaches to archival studies
- Develop and maintain a robust research agenda that contributes to the field of archival science
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance the iSchool's reputation and impact
Requirements
- PhD in Library Science, Information Studies, or a related field
- Proven record of scholarly achievement and publication
- Experience in archival management and/or digital curation
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Outstanding academic credentials
- Track record of successful grant writing and securing funding
- Ability to mentor and supervise graduate students
- Experience in developing and delivering courses in archival studies
Skills
- Expertise in archival theory and practice
- Knowledge of digital preservation and curation
