Marquette University’s Department of Psychology seeks an advanced Associate or Full Professor for the Schneider Endowed Distinguished Professorship, beginning August 2027. The professorship supports scholarship and training in mental-health treatment, with priority given to candidates whose research focuses on trauma or addiction. While a background in Clinical Psychology is preferred, other qualified applicants will be considered.

About the role

The Schneider Endowed Distinguished Professor will conduct transformative research in trauma or addictions, develop an independent, extramurally funded research program, publish extensively, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching may include undergraduate and graduate courses in the APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology and clinical supervision of graduate student clinicians at the department’s Center for Psychological Services. The ideal candidate will be licensed or license-eligible in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct transformative research in trauma or addiction
  • Develop and sustain an independent research program with potential for extramural funding
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed outlets
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Clinical Psychology
  • Provide clinical supervision of graduate student clinicians in the department clinic
  • Contribute to the department’s community-engagement initiatives

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or related field
  • Seven to ten years of college-level teaching experience
  • Distinguished record of teaching and scholarship commensurate with appointment at the senior rank with tenure
  • Established reputation among scholars in the field
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Wisconsin (preferred)
