Clinical Assistant is a vital, hands-on member of the care team who works directly with patients and providers in clinics, hospitals, and specialty practices. This is the fastest, most respected way to gain paid, patient-facing clinical experience before medical, nursing, or PA school: you’ll log hundreds of hours of direct patient contact, master clinical skills that admissions committees love, build strong letters of recommendation from physicians and nurses who work with you daily, and discover firsthand whether the clinical side of healthcare is your calling.

Responsibilities

  • Work with doctors to room patients
  • Assist with procedure setup
  • Perform point-of care testing, take vitals, phlebotomy services
  • Manage patient flow, and support everything from check-in to discharge
  • Monitor pending labs and radiology orders for results to help guide patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain consent
  • Provide referral orders
  • Facilitate transition of care to urgent care or hospital
  • Provide other duties as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Proof of vaccinations (may be required)
  • Typing speed of 40+ WPM
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Flexible schedule availability
  • Ability to stand, sit, and use a computer for several hours a day
  • Access to a laptop (you’ll be provided one after training but need your own for training)

Pay

Our compensation for this position is $17.50, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

Schedule

As an on-site Clinical Assistant, you could work in a variety of healthcare settings — from doctor’s offices to emergency departments. With over 80 specialties nationwide, we’ll match you to the best fit based on your schedule, interests, and location. Outpatient (Doctor’s Office): Typically weekday hours (around 8–5, Monday–Friday), with some offices offering evening or weekend shifts. Ideal if you prefer a consistent routine. Emergency Department: Open 24/7 — there’s always something happening! Great for those who need flexibility or are balancing school and other commitments.
