Bilingual Navigator
About the role
The Outreach department is accepting applications for the Bilingual Outreach Navigator position, where you’ll have the opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive team in assisting students and families, our partners, and events.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement communication plans to keep prospective and new students on track with key activities to enroll, advance toward completion, and achieve transfer/career goals.
Provide accurate and timely information regarding dual credit options, especially CTE dual credit, to students, K12 partners, and parents, and provide enrollment reports and information for incoming dual-credit students.
Work closely with the LCC Student Ambassadors and One-Stop staff to ensure new students successfully complete processes leading to enrollment.
Manage a designated group of new students to complete welcoming activities and communications, such as text message communication, tracking New Student engagement, and referring students to appropriate LCC resources.
Develop and maintain relationships with the Hispanic/Latino community and provide specific outreach to Spanish-speaking communities through events, such as assisting with Financial Aid applications (FAFSA/WAFSA), scholarship or college application support, and attending community activities.
Support the Outreach Team in delivering targeted outreach and recruitment activities to diverse student populations, including communities of color, low-income communities, students with disabilities, opportunity youth, and adult populations.
Participate in planning, facilitating, and hosting outreach events, including presentations and orientations to new and prospective students, high school counselors, LCC advisors, and other parties to promote LCC opportunities, including dual credit, application support, enrollment processes, scholarship, financial aid, campus visits, and other activities related to community engagement and college outreach and recruitment.
Engage with business, industry, and other external partners to participate in a variety of activities that enhance students’ understanding of industry related to their field of study and to engage employers in career-related learning experiences.
Maintain positive relationships with all participating schools, LCC staff and faculty, local industry, higher education partners, and community members.
Requirements
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Associate degree in education, communications, social sciences, business, marketing, counseling, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet program goals, with the adaptability to pivot priorities as need arises.
Demonstrated ability to clearly explain complex processes across multiple communication channels to individuals from varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to identify student or program challenges, maintain relevant information, and implement accessible, timely solutions.
Demonstrated proficiency with computer processing software, presentation software, and/or social media tools.
