This Work from Home position requires that you live and work within 60 miles of an HCA Healthcare Hospital (locations include FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MO, NV, NH, NC, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA).
About the role
As a Bilingual Medical Procedure Scheduler, you will schedule patient testing, procedures, and admissions; obtain pre-certification/authorization numbers and enter them into the scheduling or registration system; collect and enter accurate insurance information; and handle incoming phone calls.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner
- Schedule all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures through the applicable scheduling module (e.g., Meditech)
- Select accurate insurance carrier plans and inform the patient or physician office staff of any out-of-network carriers
- Inform the physician office staff or patient of any testing requirements according to the instructions and queries in the scheduling module
- Ensure that any edits are performed in the scheduling module
- Ensure physician orders are indexed appropriately
- Maintain knowledge of scheduling reports for the next day to ensure department readiness in the event of unscheduled Meditech downtime
- Work closely with physician office staff to ensure pre-cert/authorization numbers are entered in the scheduling or registration system
- Consistently select the correct patient medical record number
- Maintain open communication with registration staff regarding unscheduled patients to ensure appropriate testing and availability
- Utilize appropriate methods/tools to communicate with Patient Access and other facility departments as necessary
- Edit medical accounts to appropriate status per facility or SSC standards and guidelines
- Receive, maintain, and index physician orders per facility and SSC standards and guidelines
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of related experience required, preferably in medical procedure scheduling
- Wired high-speed internet (25 MB download / 15 MB upload) required for work from home
- Must live within a 60-mile radius of an HCA Hospital
