About the role

Supports Human Resources by maintaining records and providing general administrative expertise. Focuses on interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to meet production needs. Assists employees with daily questions and situations. Plans and coordinates company events and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support by entering, formatting, and printing information, organizing work, answering the telephone, relaying messages, and maintaining equipment and supplies
  • Plans company events and activities, including holiday meals, monthly activities, 401(k) informative sessions, blood drives, highway clean up, etc.
  • Sets up retirement and anniversary celebrations and administers applicable gift cards
  • Sends gifts and/or flowers on behalf of the Company in times of bereavement or parental leave
  • Maintains employee records by entering and updating personal information and records
  • Assists employees with HRIS use
  • Posts job openings, schedules and conducts interviews, handles offer letter process
  • Assists with applicant tracking in company ATS to meet EEOC standards
  • Works as primary contact with staffing agencies, when applicable
  • Completes consistent pre-employment screening, including background checks, drug screenings and I-9 documentation
  • Assists with new hire paperwork, onboarding, and orientation process
  • Completes orientation with new hires on a regular basis to keep up with production needs
  • Assists with the development and facilitation of health, safety & environmental training
  • Assists with annual open enrollment and new hire enrollments; explains insurance plans and options to employees and helps ensure they have the correct plan
  • Attends local job fairs and community events on behalf of the Company
  • Manages safety eyeglass portal, assists employees with purchasing safety glasses
  • Maintains associate information/wellness boards
  • Assists associates with general HR related concerns and questions
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping Human Resource information confidential

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, at least one year in Administration or Human Resources desired, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or similar certification desired
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish is required
  • Must have the ability to work all shift schedules, periodic overtime, and be available for periodic weekend work
  • Travel requirements: less than 20%

Work Environment

The majority of time will be spent in the office area; however, the employee will spend time in the production areas. The production area temperatures can fluctuate significantly based on the time of year. The noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required while on the production floor. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required. The noise level in the office is usually quiet.
