We are looking for a bilingual customer service representative with strong attention to detail to support a community action program in Rhode Island. This is a long-term contract opportunity centered on assisting individuals and families with clear communication, administrative support, and service coordination in a small office environment connected to food donation efforts funded through federal programs.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome community members, respond to inquiries, and provide helpful assistance in English and Spanish across phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Explain program services, eligibility details, and next steps so clients can access food support and related community resources with confidence.
  • Translate verbal and written information between English and Spanish to ensure clear and respectful communication.
  • Maintain organized records, enter information accurately, and prepare routine documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Coordinate daily office activities, schedule appointments as needed, and support staff with general administrative tasks.
  • Assist with client intake and document collection while protecting sensitive information and following program guidelines.
  • Work closely with team members in a small office setting to keep service delivery efficient and responsive to community needs.

Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, including the ability to translate information clearly and professionally.
  • Previous customer service or administrative support experience in an office, nonprofit, or community-based setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for document preparation, data entry, and tracking.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when managing records and client information.
  • Ability to multitask, stay dependable, and work effectively in a small team environment.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and commitment to serving the public.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
