Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and support project-specific safety plans and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for a variety of construction and industrial activities, including roofing, painting/coatings, mechanical restoration, insulation, scaffolding, surface preparation, and related trades.
- Maintain a strong field presence (approximately 75% travel) to actively support job sites through real-time hazard recognition and implementation of effective controls during high-risk activities.
- Support union and non-union crews, ensuring safety requirements, expectations, and controls are clearly communicated and consistently applied across varying labor environments.
- Mentor and build safety capability in foremen, supervisors, and craft workforce personnel, enabling them to recognize hazards, apply direct controls and safeguards, and make sound, safe operational decisions.
- Conduct daily and periodic field observations and safety inspections, including review of:
- Fall protection systems
- Scaffolds and elevated work platforms
- Rigging and material handling
- Task-specific PPE
- Confined spaces
- Equipment, tools, and jobsite conditions
- Verify compliance with OSHA 1926 construction standards and applicable company safety policies.
- Support and participate in pre-task planning, management of change discussions, daily safety huddles, and toolbox talks.
- Assist with incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations, emphasizing root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Prepare, present, and deliver safety training; facilitate safety meetings; and represent the safety function during project kickoff and coordination meetings.
- Provide practical, field-based guidance related to:
- Fall protection
- Confined space entry
- Hazard communication
- Respiratory protection
- Chemical handling and storage
- Heat stress and environmental hazards
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of safety plans, inspections, observations, training, and corrective actions.
- Possess and exercise the authority to intervene and stop work when imminent hazards or unsafe conditions are identified.
