About the Role
The Housing Stabilization Specialist provides inclusive and trauma-informed housing advocacy and case management services to clients. This position offers individual, family, and/or group services, including advocacy, linkage, referral, crisis intervention, education, and support. The role facilitates resource acquisition and client advocacy, with most stabilization services delivered in clients’ residences or community-based settings.
Responsibilities
- Equity and Inclusion:
- Reflect on how identities and power dynamics impact workplace advantages or disadvantages.
- Create an inclusive environment where clients and employees feel respected, valued, and safe.
- Advocacy:
- Assist advocates and case managers in resolving client housing issues and landlord concerns.
- Help clients meet tenancy obligations.
- Act as a liaison with landlords/property owners.
- Case Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and advocate for multiple social services to meet clients’ long-term housing needs.
- Improve clients’ daily living skills and physical/mental health.
- Arrange referrals to appropriate resources.
- Develop information support systems to increase clients’ independence and residential stability.
- Community Resources, Response, Coordination, and Outreach:
- Conduct outreach to recently housed clients.
- Advocate with community resources to enhance service continuity, accessibility, and accountability.
- Assist the Rapid Rehousing program as needed.
- Statistical and Grant Reporting:
- Coordinate and track Rapid Rehousing (RRH) housing funds in accordance with grant and agency requirements.
- Other duties to support departmental and organizational goals, as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of DVIS and client information.
- Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate client files according to agency guidelines.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of one year of supervised experience working with individuals and groups in a social service or mental health environment.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in property management engagement.
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license; CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of or experience with social justice issues, including intimate partner violence, gender-based violence, and racial, class, and sexual orientation equity.

Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional extended workdays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) in person and by phone.
- Ability to hear adequately in personal and group settings, with periodic distractions.
- Ability to process information from various sources (e.g., computers, printed materials).
- Mobility to access offices and various settings, including intermittent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting.
- Occasional climbing of stairs or use of elevators.
- Ability to reach, move, and/or lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent repetitive movement, such as extended keyboarding.
- Occasional sitting and/or standing for long periods.
