Primary Purpose
Aid the classroom teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students.
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
- Absorb and implement classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction
- Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
- Administer and score objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
- Inform the teacher of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal
Qualifications
- Minimum Education/Certification: Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate, High School Diploma or GED
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children, proficient communication skills, ability to operate computer using a variety of basic applications, knowledge of general office equipment, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings

- Frequent movement from one classroom to another

- May be required to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance
Safety
- Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
