About the role

Working under the direction of the Essential Plan (EP) Sales & Account Management and collectively with the Business Development and Community Outreach team, the Sales/Account Manager will interface with New York Health Plan to increase marketing synergy and drive overall membership growth. This field-based role establishes and cultivates strategic business relationships with key sales and market influencers, potential new customers, and related community institutions. The Essential Plan serves New Yorkers aged 19-64. This position requires tenacity to perform sales activities both indoors and outdoors, focusing on new Business-to-Business (B2B) opportunities to prospect and enroll new Essential Plan-eligible members across vertical channels such as dental, vision, fitness, colleges, trade schools, small businesses, and other industry sectors identified by your manager. Training on all government programs will be conducted upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll eligible members in UHC Essential Plan.
  • Build and foster relationships with key accounts (provider offices, pharmacies, CBOs, housing, etc.).
  • Present health plan information to providers, business advocacies, and potential eligibles; responsible for closing sales.
  • Serve as the point of contact for members to provide excellent service and enrollment experience.
  • Lead pipeline management and meet or exceed sales and enrollment expectations within assigned territory.
  • Conduct product information presentations in multiple settings, including in-home consultations.
  • Function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Track and measure sales event effectiveness, activities, leads, lead progress, sales, appointments, and relationship progress daily through internal systems.
  • Provide input, support, and feedback on promotional opportunities, benefits, and other issues.
  • Stay informed on UHC operations, provider network, premiums, member services, claims, explanation of benefits, processes, and other services to provide accurate information to community partners, prospects, and members.
  • Manage multiple priorities, including visiting provider offices regularly and following up on leads in a timely fashion.
  • Track schedules to keep appointments on time and maintain timely records of those appointments.
  • Input consumer demographics and interactions into company systems as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Marketplace Certified (Valid NYSOH Certified Application Counselor ID - CAC) in good standing or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • 1+ years of business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C) direct marketing, outside sales, or community outreach experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willing and able to travel locally up to 100% of the time within assigned sales territories in the NYC market area, requiring reliable transportation or access to public transportation.
  • Willing and able to work core business hours, Monday - Friday 8am-5pm, and nights and weekends when required.
  • Reside within commuting distance to the New York Metropolitan area.
  • Bilingual in English plus one or more of the following: Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, Fuzhounese), Korean, South Asian languages (Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati), Vietnamese, or Filipino/Tagalog.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C) direct marketing, outside sales, or community outreach experience.
  • Experience working with communities of diverse ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and underserved populations.
  • Previous outside sales and territory management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving history, and current automobile insurance.
  • Insured, dependable vehicle with a current driver’s license.
  • Health & Accident Insurance license (company-sponsored) or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Established professional relationships with non-profits, community-based organizations (CBOs), or faith-based organizations (FBOs) in the designated sales territory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Essential Plan Marketplace marketing rules and regulations (training provided).
  • Ability to act as a team player, collaborating with others to achieve goals.

Pay

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $19.23 to $38.46 per hour based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance.
