About the Role
As the Bid Manager, you will act as a strategic partner to Sales by managing the due diligence process for new opportunities. You will create market-competitive solutions that support winning business strategies and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure buy-in. This role involves evaluating artwork, technical drawings, and data to meet customer requirements and support operational strategy. Success in this role requires creative costing solutions, high-level strategic thinking, and the use of internal calculators.
Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner and key liaison between Sales, Estimating, Operations, and Strategic Pricing.
- Schedule and participate in internal meetings to understand new opportunities, create critical milestones, and define ownership and timelines.
- Understand customer requirements and develop accurate scopes of work that meet or exceed expectations.
- Manage opportunities from start to handoff, logging updates and communication in systems like SalesForce and ERP.
- Develop accurate cost estimates by evaluating opportunity information, including outreach to internal plants, Encompass partners, or using internal estimating tools.
- Incorporate market-based best practices into estimates while meeting internal SLAs, customer needs, and operational strategy.
- Partner with Strategic Pricing to apply pricing strategies to customer quotes/proposals.
- Clearly define opportunity background, scope of work, bid expectations, and financials to ensure a seamless transition from Deal Desk to Operations.
- Collaborate with Leadership to identify process efficiencies that expedite bid turnaround time without sacrificing quality or integrity.
Qualifications
- College degree or technical education preferred.
- Prior experience with project management or data and analytics preferred.
- Proven ability to read and analyze technical drawings and perform accurate takeoffs.
- High level of organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, written, verbal, and analytical skills.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with analyzing requirement data (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, customer notes).
- Self-managed, detail-oriented, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong sense of customer service for both internal and external customers.
- Accountable, intrinsically motivated individual with a history of taking initiative and producing results.

- Clear and concise communication with Executive Leadership, cross-segment teams, Sales, and clients.
- Ability to work in a strict deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally (local, regional, or national).
- Position may require working before or after regularly scheduled hours as business needs arise.

Pay
$70,000 - $75,000 annually. The pay range reflects the potential pay for this role and will depend on responsibilities, job duties, and relevant experience and skills.
