Bicycle Technician

About the role

We're looking for a skilled production bicycle technician to join our team! As a key member of our service team, you'll be working closely with customers and other staff to ensure a great experience for everyone.

Responsibilities

• Operating at or above shop production standards.
• Accurately and completely processing paperwork, including recording parts used, work performed, and torque tolerance, as well as completing job tickets and pricing.
• Identifying and reporting any deficiencies not addressed by repair work to customers and team leaders.
• Assisting customers with repairs by sharing product and technical knowledge.
• Processing transactions at the cash register as needed.
• Reporting replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the General Manager.
• Maintaining shop cleanliness, including benches and common workspaces.
• Assembling new bicycles as required.
• Installing, repairing, and replacing equipment and accessories, such as handlebars, stands, lights, and seats.
• Aligning wheels.
• Disassembling axles for repair, adjustment, and replacement of defective parts.
• Installing and adjusting brakes and brake pads.
• Installing new tires and tubes.
• Cleaning and lubricating bicycle parts.
• Keying in POS bicycle parts needed for each repair.
• Building wheels by cutting and threading new spokes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Preferred experience as a technician or mechanic in a bike shop, but not mandatory.
• A willingness to work in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• The ability to maintain positive relationships with employees and customers.
• A desire to develop their own skills and knowledge.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
