About Us

The Bronx clinic (funded $12+ million) of the Hispanic Community Health Study is one of four national sites contracted by the government to recruit Hispanic/Latino adults residing in the Bronx territory. Recruiters are required to bring in a total of 4,000 participants into the study.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and screen potential participants in person or by telephone utilizing Spanish and English.
  • Administer consent forms and questionnaires utilizing Spanish and English.
  • Collect research data when required; assist with outreach and community screening.
  • Schedule appointments and make appointment reminder calls utilizing Spanish and English communication.
  • Maintain database of information.
  • Assist Principal Investigator in generating reports from the study.
  • Provide courteous, responsive, and participant-centered service.
  • Organize workload effectively and manage multiple priorities.
  • Listen attentively to understand needs and concerns.
  • Required travel more than 50% of the time to conduct in-person home visits.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position involves regular travel to community-based locations throughout the Bronx to conduct in-person visits. The work environment may include locations without elevator access; therefore, the ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs while carrying a laptop and/or study equipment is required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate plus 6 months–1 year of clerical experience.
  • Required proficiency to communicate effectively in English and Spanish both verbally and in writing with non-English speaking participants.
  • Models a positive attitude and takes initiative as a self-starter.
  • Applies learning from past experiences to improve future efforts.
  • Understands and uses technology to accomplish goals.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. May use other web-based programs as assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of navigating through the Bronx neighborhoods using mass transportation.

Pay

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this position are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.

  • Hiring Rate: $26.37/hr
  • Post Probationary Rate: $26.90/hr
  • Job Rate: $28.02/hr

Minimum Salary Range: USD $26.37/Hr. Maximum Salary Range: USD $26.37/Hr.
