Summary
Under the direction of Clinical Nurse Manager (Inpatient)/Program Director (Partial) and Unit Charge RN, the Behavioral Health Specialist III (BHS III) provides care and safety to children and adolescents as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Key responsibilities include milieu management, supervision of BHS I and II, and supporting staff training.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate milieu treatment and behavior management plans.
- Monitor documentation of BHS I and II in the electronic medical record.
- Supervise Behavioral Health Specialists and recommend disciplinary policies.
- Orient new staff and design in-service programs.
- Interview and evaluate prospective staff members.
- Participate in consultations with the treatment team and family.
- Schedule milieu staff and observe hospital rules and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service field preferred, with other education and experience considered.
- Over three years in Milieu Therapy or a related field with demonstrated competence in childcare techniques.
- Performs independently within Program policies and practices.
- Supervises up to 10 FTEs.
