Beverage and Brewery Operations Affiliate Instructor, School of Hospitality
Position Summary
The School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. For more information about the School of Hospitality, please visit: https://www.msudenver.edu/hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Teach 3+ credit hours.
- Subject areas may include, but are not limited to: Wine Fundamentals, Beer and Spirits, Enology: The Making of Wine, Wines of the Old World, Wines of the New World, Wine and Food Pairing
- Work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
- Demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework
- Be available for consultation with students
Requirements
- Completion of a Master’s degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach OR a Bachelor’s degree in a hospitality-related discipline plus professional experience that is current at the time of hire, that has been substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and that clearly links to the field in which the faculty member is expected to teach. Normally, this experience is no less than ten consecutive years with increasing levels of responsibility and significant levels of supervisory experience.
- If the Master’s degree is outside the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach, there is an increased expectation of substantial professional work experience in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach. (e.g., various levels of Sommelier and/or Cicerone, etc.)
Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
