About the role
We are seeking an experienced Bevel Laser Operator responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC laser cutting equipment in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all tasks safely and responsibly.
- Interpret blueprints and part drawings to understand cut requirements and bevel details.
- Load and unload steel plates using overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure quality, precision, and efficiency.
- Identify and correct issues such as dross, taper, or inconsistent bevel angles.
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections with appropriate measuring tools.
- Collaborate with engineering and programming teams to troubleshoot cutting or program issues.
- Perform deburring and basic preventative maintenance to maintain equipment performance.
- Ensure proper part identification, handling, and staging for downstream processes.
- Follow safety protocols and use required safety equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
- 1–3 years of CNC bevel laser operation experience, preferably in a job shop.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret part drawings.
- Experience with bevel cutting applications and large steel plates.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic troubleshooting skills and understanding of cut quality standards.
- Proficiency with machine interfaces and production systems; basic computer skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and operate overhead cranes and forklifts (training provided).
- Good vision and manual dexterity for precise work.
