About the role
Better Community Development’s (BCD) VISTA programs address a wide range of individual and community needs through a three-pronged approach: health-focused assistance, prevention, and intervention. Based on research, the programs examine the effects of peer coaching in addiction recovery and use innovative teaching techniques to improve outcomes. Compliance projects and healthy living initiatives ensure accountability while promoting wellness. Additionally, the programs are shifting the Healthy Futures approach along with veterans and their families, fostering resilience and lasting community impact.
Member Duties
- Recruit volunteers in the areas of substance use disorder services, community engagement and youth development.
- Build capacity through health-focused assistance, prevention, and intervention.
- Investigate and implement strategies to best serve the site based on the needs and gaps identified.
