The BEST Network Histology Atlas
Announced October 27, 2025, the BEST Network Histology Atlas is a comprehensive online resource designed to support histology and histopathology teaching and learning.
Why Create a Histology Atlas?
- Slice currently hosts over 23,000 biomedical images, including 8,000+ virtual slides, used in histology and histopathology courses worldwide.
- Academics requested a curated, ready-to-use resource to build their histology courses.
- Students desired more annotated images and explanations for independent study.
What's Inside the Atlas?
- Detailed descriptions and diagrams organized by body system.
- Complementing text-based descriptions with labelled diagrams and static images, along with embedded annotated virtual slides.
- Pins and/or regions marking multiple examples of features to account for normal variability within samples.
- Integrated questions, including "Drop a Pin" feature identification questions and MCQs, allowing students to self-assess their understanding.
