Contract position based in Norfolk, VA.

About the role

As a Benefits Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and responding to employee inquiries regarding health, welfare, retirement, and other benefit programs. You will assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations, and support the Benefits Analyst with reporting, data audits, and benefit administration tasks. The role requires onsite work, directly collaborating with the Analyst who primarily manages compensation-related tasks. The position demands professionalism and discretion, especially when handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to employee inquiries about health, welfare, retirement, and other benefit programs.
  • Assist with the enrollment, changes, and termination processes of benefits.
  • Support the Benefits Analyst with reporting, data audits, and various benefit administration tasks.
  • Coordinate with benefits vendors and internal HR team members to resolve any issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of employee benefits.
  • Assist in creating communication and educational materials related to employee benefits.
  • Provide limited support with compensation-related activities as required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits administration.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, Vlookups, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefit programs and HR processes.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Pay

$30.00 - $40.00/hr.
