About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Benefits Specialist to take ownership of day-to-day benefits administration within a growing, multi-state organization. The ideal candidate brings deep benefits expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a service-focused approach, with the confidence to independently resolve complex employee questions and ensure benefits information is administered accurately and consistently. This position is based in Vancouver, Washington. The role will be fully on-site during training with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule of approximately 2-3 days per week in the office once fully established in the position.
Responsibilities
- Administer comprehensive employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, FSA, voluntary life, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Lead the annual open enrollment process, supporting employee communications, enrollment activities, qualifying events, dependent changes, and benefit plan questions.
- Manage benefits eligibility and ACA compliance activities, including required reporting, ongoing eligibility reviews, and coordination with benefits partners.
- Utilize ADP to manage enrollments and corrections, create and run reports, reconcile benefit billing, address system or file-feed issues, and submit and track service requests.
- Serve as a primary benefits resource for employees while partnering with carriers, vendors, and internal HR team members to resolve complex inquiries, support COBRA and leave-related benefit activities, and maintain compliance with applicable requirements.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on benefits administration experience, including direct ownership of complex benefit programs and open enrollment; candidates should have benefits-focused expertise rather than primarily generalist HR experience.
- Strong ADP experience with the ability to independently create and run reports, manage enrollments and corrections, and troubleshoot benefits-related system issues; ADP Lyric experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with ACA reporting, benefits eligibility administration, carrier coordination, and benefits reconciliation processes.
- Exceptional accuracy, organization, problem-solving, and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate complex benefits information clearly and handle sensitive employee situations with discretion.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; experience supporting benefits within a multi-state organization or healthcare-related environment is a plus.
