Benefits Consultant (Hybrid)
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Benefit Consultant to manage and support a portfolio of employee benefits clients. This role partners closely with Benefit Analysts and Benefit Advocates to deliver strategic benefits solutions, drive successful renewals, and ensure an exceptional client experience. The ideal candidate is a consultative advisor with strong employee benefits knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to build lasting client relationships. This position plays a key role in supporting client retention, developing customized benefits strategies, and helping organizations meet their goals related to cost containment, compliance, employee communication, and overall benefit plan performance.
Professional Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by developing strong relationships and providing strategic guidance related to employee benefits programs.
- Partner with clients to identify short- and long-term objectives and develop customized benefit strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Lead renewal strategy and execution, including planning timelines, conducting pre-renewal meetings, reviewing options, and presenting recommendations.
- Deliver renewal presentations, including plan analysis, benchmarking data, cost comparisons, and strategic recommendations.
- Serve as the primary project manager and communication liaison for assigned client accounts, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Partner with Benefit Analysts and Benefit Advocates to coordinate client service activities, renewal workflows, and proactive account management initiatives.
- Address complex client inquiries and benefit challenges using a consultative approach while involving internal resources when needed.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and vendor partners to resolve issues and support client objectives.
- Educate clients on legislative updates, compliance requirements, and industry changes to help reduce risk and maintain effective benefit programs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier and vendor partners to support client solutions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance client benefit offerings, including voluntary benefits and additional solutions that align with client needs.
- Conduct employee open enrollment meetings, webinars, and benefit education sessions.
- Aid in the development of employee communication materials and resources.
- Provide guidance and training to new client HR contacts regarding benefit programs, processes, and available resources.
- Lead internal client strategy meetings to ensure team alignment, discuss renewals, address service needs, and promote collaboration.
- Stay informed on employee benefits trends, compliance updates, carrier solutions, and industry best practices through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting, account management, sales, business development, or a related client-facing role.
- Active Colorado Life & Health insurance license required.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, plan designs, compliance requirements, carrier products, and industry best practices.
- Experience developing client relationships, identifying needs, and delivering customized benefit solutions.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex scenarios and recommend effective solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and other client management technology platforms.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, carriers, vendors, and client stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on industry trends, regulations, and emerging benefit solutions.
- Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) certification preferred.

Pay Range
The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000 per year depending on experience. A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
