About the role

As our part-time Benefits Administrator (20 hours per week), you will support the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefits. This role partners closely with employees, vendors, and internal stakeholders to provide excellent customer service, ensure accurate benefits administration, support compliance activities, and assist with employee communications and education initiatives. This role currently requires working onsite approximately 2-3 days per week to support collaboration, employee service, and coordination with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of employee benefit programs and assist employees with enrollment, life event changes, and benefit-related questions.
  • Support compliance activities by maintaining awareness of federal, state, and local regulations affecting employee benefit programs.
  • Guide and educate employees regarding health and welfare benefits, available resources, and benefit enrollment processes.
  • Complete benefits enrollments in HRIS, including audit of benefits information.
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of employee communications, educational efforts, benefit enrollment events, and management of electronic information.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, employees, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate benefits administration.
  • Recommend and help implement improvements to benefits processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  • Support annual open enrollment process, training, communications, and reporting.
  • Audit benefits data and vendor invoices for accuracy, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports, audits, and benefits summaries to support administration, compliance, and business needs.
  • Assist with wellness initiatives, benefits events, educational campaigns, and employee engagement activities.
  • Maintain benefits procedures, documentation, and job aids to support consistency and process efficiency.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives related to benefits administration, compliance, technology, and employee experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of benefits administration experience or a related HR role is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of benefits administration, HR processes, employee life events, customer service, and data accuracy.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits regulations including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Proficiency with HRIS/benefits administration systems. Experience with Benefitfocus (or a similar benefits management platform) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
  • Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to troubleshooting issues – for example, identifying and correcting enrollment errors, or finding creative solutions to unique cases.
  • Willingness to recommend process improvements when you see opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working in benefits administration or human resources is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with integrated HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration systems.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a multi-site manufacturing organization.

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $23.00-$28.00 per hour. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
