About the role

The Benefits Administrator II oversees the day-to-day administration of ANTHC's benefit programs. This includes primary responsibility for the administration of all leave policies and procedures, answering employee benefit questions, and conducting compliance audits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and benefits databases.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits plans, eligibility, and claims.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior team members or vendors as needed.
  • Serve as the primary contact for benefit related employee questions, providing clear guidance on eligibility, plan options, and claims resolution.
  • Address and resolve benefits-related issues, escalating complex cases as needed.
  • Support new hire orientation by providing benefits-related information.
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Affirm compliance with regulatory changes and recommend adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Partner with benefits providers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve employee issues and maintain service quality.
  • Support vendor management activities, including contract renewals and performance evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance benefits processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s) and politics.
  • Knowledge of benefits and compensation organization and regulation.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Skilled in operating a personal computer using a variety of software applications.
  • Skilled in MS Access and/or MS Excel.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Knowledge of benefits programs, health plan administration, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ACA and other benefit related legislation and regulations.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines.
  • Skilled in project management.
  • Skilled in cost/benefit analysis.
