About the role

Bench Operators at StandardAero are responsible for setting up and operating a variety of hand and power tools to perform tasks such as blending, chasing threads, deburring, angle checking, coldworking metals, masking, and braze application. They also fit and assemble machined metal parts and sub-assemblies, verify dimensions, inspect quality, and participate in continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a variety of hand and power tools to perform tasks such as blending, chasing threads, deburring, angle checking, coldworking metals, masking, and braze application.
  • Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts for product specifications.
  • Fits and assembles machined metal parts and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools.
  • Manually aligns components for assembly and bolts, screws, dowels or rivets complex series of parts together.
  • Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Inspects quality and accuracy of run work.
  • Sets up and operates test equipment (e.g., pressure test).
  • Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Observes all applicable safety requirements and reports any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience with hand tools such as grinders, sanders, files, and dremels.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude with previous experience with hand tools and/or power tools.
  • Prior experience with auto body, metal fabrication, and engine repair.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Previous aerospace/aviation experience.

  • Desired mechanical aptitude and experience with hand tools and power tools.

Pay

Shift differential applies based on shift type: 4/10-hour shifts Monday-Thursday (10% Shift Differential) and 3/12-hour shifts Friday – Sunday (11% Shift Differential; start times include 4am-4pm, 5am-5pm or 6am-6pm).

Schedule

Shifts available: 2nd Shift: 4/10-hour shifts Monday-Thursday (10% Shift Differential) and Weekend Shift: 3/12-hour Shifts Friday – Sunday (11% Shift Differential; start times include 4am-4pm, 5am-5pm or 6am-6pm).
