Bench Carpenter - Swing Shift

About the Role

Responsible for the set-up and operation of woodworking machinery and tools to assemble a variety of products within specified timelines and per company standards.

Schedule

Swing Shift: 3:30pm–11pm

Responsibilities

  • Perform rough assembly of product on a bench per production schedules and timelines.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and work from cut lists.
  • Work closely with the project lead to achieve production goals and develop strategies to remain within the materials and labor costs quoted for the job.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, keeping the area neat and orderly with materials and tools organized for efficient space utilization.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of work-related experience in a woodworking or cabinet shop.
  • Experience working with woodworking tools: table saw, overhead sander, sliding table saw, chop saws, trim routers, shaper, hand-held routers, pneumatic tools, drills & drill drivers, layout tools, etc.
  • Ability to operate table saw, band saw, jointer, chop saw, planer, pneumatic nail guns, jig saw, and belt sander.
  • Proficient at using a tape measure.
  • Detail-oriented with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and interpret drawings and written instructions.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Math ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
