About the role
The person in this role will be an expert in behavioral science and a trusted senior partner to enterprise leaders seeking to translate research and external expertise into actionable business outcomes. The behavioral scientist will work directly with the leader of RAMBO and will operate as a thought leadership strategist, experimentation lead, and business translator—identifying high-value segment questions, proactively proposing company behavior testing agendas, shaping narratives, building partnerships, and converting complex evidence into frameworks, tools, campaigns, experience concepts, and scalable recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Own the behavioral science thought leadership agenda — Shape a focused research, experimentation, and publication agenda that turns behavioral science into distinctive points of view for the firm. Identify the segment-based questions the company is uniquely positioned to answer and translate those questions into strategic narratives, research briefs, executive-ready storylines, client-facing insights, advisor enablement materials, and market-facing intellectual capital.
- Strategic partnerships — Build and manage partnerships with academic institutions, research centers, industry experts, and select innovation partners that directly support enterprise priorities, with a focus on key segments and themes such as multi-generational relationships, next-generation client engagement, wealth transfer, financial fulfillment, and investor behavior.
- Client and advisor experience design — Where appropriate, develop custom and digital client and advisor experiences, engagement models, and behavioral design principles that drive financial fulfillment, long-term engagement, and more effective advice relationships. Partner with product, design, research, marketing, and advisor teams to move insights from concept to testable experience designs.
- Innovation and proprietary intellectual capital — Accelerate the development of frameworks, guardrails, indices, diagnostic tools, and practical models that differentiate the company's advice model and market position. Prioritize work that supports future clients, advisor capabilities and effectiveness, wealth transfer, and enterprise growth opportunities.
- Research and experimentation — Proactively develop and manage test-and-learn agendas that validate behavioral hypotheses, de-risk new ideas, and generate evidence for business decisions. Use qualitative and quantitative methods, rapid tests, field experiments, surveys, prototypes, and measurement plans to determine what works, for which segments, at which moments in the client journey, and under what conditions.
- Segment strategy and conversion — Connect behavioral science to segmentation, client journey strategy, marketing conversion funnels, and RAMBO capabilities. Identify behavioral barriers and opportunities by segment, propose tests that improve awareness, consideration, activation, conversion, engagement, and retention, and translate results into repeatable playbooks or scalable business actions.
- Cross-functional activation — Where appropriate, facilitate collaboration across client experience, marketing, research, design, advisor, segment strategy, public policy, communications, and RAMBO teams to ensure behavioral insights are embedded in business decisions, experience design, campaigns, advisor enablement, enterprise narratives, and scalable operating practices.
- Measurement, learning, and business case development — Define how thought leadership and behavioral science activation will create value. Develop learning agendas, logic models, measurement approaches, and business cases that connect research partnerships, intellectual capital, and experience design to outcomes such as engagement, adoption, advisor effectiveness, client retention, segment growth, and brand differentiation.
- External visibility and credibility — Help position the company as a credible voice on the human side of advice by informing publications, convenings, speaking opportunities, research collaborations, and executive-ready narratives that communicate the firm’s distinctive perspective on client behavior, financial decision-making, and the future of advice.
- Consulting support and office hours — Provide light consulting and quick-hit office hours for business partners who want a behavioral perspective on research questions, experience design, messaging, client engagement, advisor enablement, or strategy development.
