What You’ll Do

  • Work under clinical supervision, requiring considerable knowledge of behavioral healthcare programs and program techniques
  • As a member of an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team, responsible for assigned mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders
  • Complete screenings including detailed mental health screens and risk assessments (including suicide watch assessments when within scope of practice and allowable per credentialing board, ODRC policy, and in direct consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional when not independently licensed)
  • Conduct individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan using clinical intervention strategies within scope of practice and directed by supervision
  • Provide psychosocial group interventions as prescribed on the mental health treatment plan
  • Provide mental health liaison services to an assigned caseload, including monitoring offender progress with mental health treatment plan goals
  • Complete psychosocial needs and treatment assessments as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning
  • Complete transfer and discharge summaries
  • Consult with other institution staff regarding the mental health caseload inmate's institutional adjustment and service needs
  • Initiate and maintain contact with families and community agencies
  • Provide and seek information relative to patient care and treatment
  • Make appropriate community referrals per mental health treatment team
  • Write reports and/or documentation, including electronic documentation of all inmate contacts, mental health liaison progress note entries, discharge plans, and miscellaneous forms and reports as needed per policy and protocol
  • Attend meetings of social work or counselor supervision
  • Attend in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
  • May be assigned to teach in-service

Pay

  • Starting pay is approximately $70,000 based on location
  • DRC is a "qualifying employer" for purposes of the federal Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness program

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board
  • Or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board
  • Or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board
