This position
Works under clinical supervision and requires considerable knowledge of behavioral healthcare programs and program techniques.
Responsibilities
- Works as a member of an interdisciplinary mental health treatment team, responsible for assigned mental health interventions for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders.
- Conducts mental health screenings, including detailed mental health screens and risk assessments, which may include suicide watch assessments when necessary.
- Completes individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the mental health treatment plan, using clinical intervention strategies within their scope of practice and directed by supervision.
- Provides psychosocial group interventions as prescribed on the mental health treatment plan.
- Makes mental health liaison services available to an assigned caseload, including monitoring the offender's progress towards mental health treatment plan goals.
- Completes psychosocial needs and treatment assessments as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning.
- Writes transfer and discharge summaries.
- Consults with other institution staff regarding the mental health caseload inmate's institutional adjustment and service needs.
- Communicates with families and community agencies to provide and seek information relevant to patient care and treatment.
- Initiates and maintains contact with families and community agencies.
- Makes appropriate community referrals, per mental health treatment team.
- Writes reports and/or documentation, including electronic documentation of all inmate contacts, mental health liaison progress note entries, discharge plans, and miscellaneous forms and reports as needed, per policy and protocol.
- Attends meetings of social work or counselor supervision.
- Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development.
- May be assigned to teach in-service.
Qualifications
Requires a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board, or a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board, or a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) by the State of Ohio counselor, Social Work Marriage & Family Therapy Board.

Benefits
Starting pay is approximately $70,000 based on location. DRC is a “qualifying employer” for purposes of the federal Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness program.
