Behavioral Health Therapist, PRN

About the role

Lifepoint Rehabilitation is seeking a dynamic Behavioral Health Therapist to join our team at Cottonwood Springs. This position is responsible for supporting the needs of the department with a focus on clinical, operational, and administrative excellence.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
• Displays active involvement in treatment planning process.
• Provides family session counseling to all patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
• Communicates actively with clients, families, and outside referral sources.
• Works well with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members.
• Demonstrates proactive communication with those involved with the patient's treatment.
• Communicates effectively with Utilization Review (UR) on treatment and Length of Stay (LOS) issues.
• Completes appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
• Demonstrates appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
• Affords assistance during crisis situations, ensuring patient safety.
• Completes accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills.
• Affords assistance in care coordination department as requested.
• Completes all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital standards.
• Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality.
• Completes releases appropriately.
• Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA regulations and abides by those standards.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC, Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
• Participates actively in the discharge, transition, and after-care planning treatment processes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work or counseling or relevant state licensure required.
• Accepting Psychologist with a master's degree in psychology.
• Accepting Married and Family Therapist (MFT) with a master's degree.
• License: Current unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
