Behavioral Health Therapist (LMSW, LMFT, LCSW, or LPC)

About the role

Provide onsite therapy services at client properties or homes, including behavioral health screenings, psychosocial assessments, short- and long-term counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, and crisis intervention for individuals receiving housing services and TBRA case management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite (property or home) behavioral health and comprehensive psychosocial assessments of assigned clients.
• Provide onsite individual, couples, family, and/or group counseling tailored to client needs.
• Develop and implement outcome-oriented treatment plans.
• Collaborate with Enhanced Case Managers (EHCM), Housing Support Specialists (HSS), and other staff to perform clinical assessments and create integrated comprehensive care plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure continuity of quality care.
• Provide crisis intervention assessments and on-call crisis intervention.
• Document treatment services and patient progress in required electronic database systems.
• Make and document referrals to community mental health services, support groups, and case management.
• Complete discharge plans upon treatment completion.
• Maintain confidential records according to established procedures, including computerized charting.
• Adhere to professional code of ethics (NASW, ACA), HIPAA, and Atlanta EMA Case Management Standards.
• Follow agency policies outlined in the Employee Handbook, IT policy, and other relevant department policies.
• Provide services in alignment with HUD, HOPWA, or other relevant grant standards for mental health services.
• Participate in professional development workshops and trainings to improve skills.
• Attend and participate in all required staff meetings and trainings.
• Manage multiple tasks with high organization and efficiency.
• Understand, maintain, and protect confidentiality of patient health information.
• Work in an environment where services may be billed for insurance reimbursement; may require obtaining an NPI number and credentialing with Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance if eligible.
• Complete annual or assigned HealthStream and required member services/HCC trainings.
• Participate in intra- and interdepartmental activities/events (e.g., AIDS Walk fundraising, agency-sponsored events, member-centered events).
• Communicate regularly with manager about service delivery changes, updates, or improvement suggestions.
• Attend agency, local, state, and national meetings, conferences, or workshops as needed or required.
• Adhere to AID Atlanta and off-site program policies to ensure quality standards.
• Address member concerns using Customer Service Standards and grievance procedures.
• Perform routine self-audits and maintain charts to ensure current member information and eligibility documents.
• Meet with supervisor at least monthly to discuss cases, chart audits, performance, and progress toward goals.
• Attend all required internal and external meetings.
• Participate in mandatory internal and external trainings to maintain knowledge of programs benefiting members.
• Assist in hiring and training new staff as requested by manager.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, professional counseling, or an equivalent graduate degree.
• Licensure to provide mental health services in Georgia (LMSW, LMFT, LCSW, or LPC). Candidates working toward licensure must obtain it within 6 months of employment; those seeking clinical licensure must be receiving or willing to receive clinical supervision.
• Must comply with state licensure requirements, including active licensure and continuing education credits.
• Experience in clinical assessments, psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
• Preference given to applicants who are fully licensed (LMSW, LMFT, LCSW, or LPC).
• Preference given to applicants with experience working with individuals living with HIV.
• Preference given to bilingual (Spanish) applicants.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
