Behavioral Health Counselor, LISW, LPC, or LMFT

About the role

The Behavioral Health Counselor provides counseling and support to individuals and families dealing with various issues such as behavioral problems, mental illness, and substance abuse. The role involves formulating treatment plans, conducting individual and group sessions, monitoring client progress, and referring clients to additional services.

Responsibilities

• Counsels clients individually and/or in group sessions to help them overcome personal or family issues, mental illness, or substance abuse.
• Maintains regular contact with clients to assess their progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Works closely with family members to support their involvement in the client’s treatment plan.
• Prepares and updates client case histories and reports.
• Assists in developing and implementing quality assurance and process improvement reports to enhance patient care.
• Supports the Case Management Team by providing necessary information and assistance.
• Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field is required.
• A license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of South Carolina is mandatory.
• One to three years of experience in a primary healthcare setting is preferred.
• Excellent clinical counseling skills and the ability to work independently are essential.
• Knowledge of community resources and therapeutic interventions is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
• A valid South Carolina Driver’s License is required.
• The ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently is important.
• The ability to work collaboratively with others is crucial.
• CPR certification is required.
