About the role

The Behavioral Health Therapist IV works as an integral part of the Behavioral Health treatment team providing clinical treatment services under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director and treating Psychiatrist. These services include comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, preparation and implementation of the treatment plan.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assessment and screening services to individuals interested in becoming participants in the mental health program.
  • Conducts intake and psycho-social assessments.
  • Provides treatment services to a caseload of 30–50 clients; caseload size based on show rate, modalities provided (individual therapy only; group and individual therapy) and maintaining weekly utilization/billing targets.
  • Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Evaluates assessments and makes diagnoses.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans according to OMH standards.
  • Provides psychotherapy and psycho-education to a variety of clients, utilizing individual, family and group models.
  • Participates in regular clinical supervision to discuss cases.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of transference and countertransference and is willing to explore own feelings/issues that come up during client care in clinical supervision.
  • Comfortable confronting, contracting with, and making clients accountable for their own choices.
  • Involves clients in their own treatment planning as well as their own education about their mental illness(es).
  • Develops and maintains clinical records in accordance with OMH standards.
  • Ensures that patients receive coordinated and related services.
  • Participates in case conferences with case management staff and other members of the clinical team.
  • Meets with consulting psychiatrist in the development of the treatment plan and to obtain direction.
  • Provides crisis intervention, which could include home visits, escorting clients to emergency room, assisting in the development of plan for clients at risk for suicide/homicide.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • M.S.W. degree
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Qualifications

  • One to three years experience as a Clinical Social Worker
  • Specialized education and training in mental health
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and document information in accordance with OMH standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest in and conviction of purpose and aims for all programs in the Agency
  • Respect for the rights of individuals to make their own decisions about their medical care
  • Ability to communicate easily and display a cordial manner towards individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds
