Responsibilities

  • Talks with individual patients about their responses to events and interactions between appointments or groups
  • Completes psychosocial assessments
  • Participates in treatment planning for each patient; works cooperatively as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Develops, implements, and reviews treatment plans
  • Provides therapy services to individuals and their families across the spectrum of mental health conditions
  • Participates in weekly supervision with a LMHP/LIMHP to review the Intern/Student’s clinical work as guided by profession standards and Intern/Student’s participating academic program requirements
  • Obtains and maintains a Scope of Practice / Collaborative Practice Agreement with a state licensed physician on active medical staff at Methodist Fremont Health
  • Attends and participates in continuing education and staff development activities required and/or necessary for own continued growth and professional development
  • Maintains an accurate record of in-service/staff development attendance
  • Participates in department performance improvement program and projects
  • Manages time effectively. Completes all assignments within the allotted time frame. Establishes priorities for using time to the best advantage

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Practicum/Internship semester/term of a Master's degree program with a mental health therapy focus (applicable counseling or social work would be considered)
  • Education from a regionally accredited program of higher education and includes graduate course work in specific areas required
  • No experience required
  • No license/certifications required
  • Ability to effectively plan and implement therapeutic interventions in a multi-disciplinary setting with appropriate supervision
  • Knowledge of and/or course work in the areas of the mental health needs of pediatric, adult, geriatric populations, and drug and alcohol treatment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, physicians, patients and community resource representatives
  • Privileges to evaluate, diagnose, and provide primary mental health assessment and treatment using cognitive behavioral, play, and structural/strategic therapeutic techniques

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
