Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), PRN -BH Geriatric

About the role

Jackson Purchase Medical Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support the geriatric population. This position is available on a PRN basis with 12-hour shifts per week.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of an RN, assist in ensuring optimal patient care.
• Observe patients closely, document behaviors, and maintain a safe, secure environment.
• Assist patients with hygiene, meals, routines, and basic care needs.
• Implement treatment plans developed by clinicians, including leading or supporting therapeutic activities.
• De-escalate situations and respond appropriately to behavioral or emotional crises.
• Document patient progress and communicate updates to nurses, therapists, and the care team.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Nursing Assistant Certificate (SRNA/CNA) preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Handle with Care certification required within 7 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
