Behavioral Health Technician

About the role

We are seeking a PRN Behavioral Health Technician to join our dynamic team at Lakeview Health in Jacksonville, Florida. Our facility is dedicated to helping individuals detox, recover, and remain abstinent from dangerous substances through our proven treatment programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in luggage and body searches
• Monitor and sometimes facilitate the Book Studies and Recovery meetings
• Be aware of patient locations, circulate around the facility, and document hourly checks
• Absorb the Bradford Program Schedule and ensure patients are on time for each assignment
• Supervise and sometimes facilitate patient activities as directed
• Absorb patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
• Absorb patients to and from activities, medication times, and meals when unable to physically walk
• Absorb the counselor as assigned and engage in appropriate documentation
• Ensure the adherence to all applicable policies and procedures
• Assist patients in overcoming their denial and resistance to treatment and completion of treatment goals
• Manage communities, redirect behavior, and document shift reports
• Attend staff training and programs as directed
• Assist nurses as directed by supervisor
• Drive patients to and from appointments, to include patient outings, as directed
• Drive to purchase patient sundries and miscellaneous items; including nicotine products as directed

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Behavioral Science, CRC, or CRSS preferred; one year experience in alcohol/drug treatment with direct patient contact preferred
• Candidates must possess the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles of chemical dependency recovery
• Maintain records and have good communication skills
• Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Must be able to walk within the facility and on the grounds of the facility for approximately one (1) mile per every eight (8) hour shift
• Must be able to continuously sit for approximately three (3) hours per eight (8) hour shift
• Must be able to administer CPR and be certified
• Must be able to see and hear constantly
• Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations
• Must be able to stand continuously in increments of 45 minutes to one (1) hour
• If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence
