Responsibilities
- Aid patients with daily activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Support patients with basic life skills development (e.g., cooking, cleaning, and organization).
- Maintain close observation of patients' behaviors, moods, and physical conditions, documenting observations accurately.
- Report significant behavioral changes, incidents, or concerns to clinical staff and management.
- Encourage patients to participate in therapeutic activities, including relaxation techniques, social interactions, and coping strategies.
- Respond to emergencies or crisis situations, such as aggressive outbursts, self-harm, or mental health crises.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and prevent harm to patients or others.
- Enforce rules and guidelines regarding safety, behavior, and boundaries within the facility.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Additional certifications or coursework in psychology, social work, or related fields are preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health or behavioral disorders in a clinical or residential setting is highly preferred.
Physical Demands
- Full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
- Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required.
