Responsibilities
- Answers call bell- intercom system
- Assists with and de-escalates agitated or aggressive patients/family
- Performs hourly rounding
- Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living and Performs AM care/ PM care as instructed.
- Prepares patient and belongings for discharge
- Affords dietary necessities as follows: Set up meal trays, assists patient with feeding and/ or perform complete patient feed.
- Maintains Aspiration precautions
- Introduces self and role in care appropriately
- Respects patient need for privacy, as appropriate, and maintains a quiet environment and low noise levels
- Observes or monitors behavior/health state and responses to therapy
- Maintains a safe environment and protects the patient from injury
- Maintains fall precautions, applies wrist restraints, applies vest restraints, provides continuous observation per policy
- Performs safe patient transfers utilizing proper ergonomics
- Applies and monitors patient restraints in a manner that protects the safety of patients and others per PAH policy
- Observes and preserves the dignity of patients in seclusion or restraints and documents per policy
- Performs proper care of products: air mattress, teds, A pumps/ foot pumps
- Promotes patient safety
- Stocks rooms and / or supply carts/ areas
- Reports off to Registered Nurse, on each assigned patient prior to breaks and the end of each shift
Qualifications
- BLS Certification
- Knowledge Link

- Aggression Management
- Additional unit competencies as determined by the Nursing Education Department or Nurse Manager
- CNA Certification by the State of Pennsylvania or RN without a BSN Degree
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Completion of 12 credits in an accredited program in an area of human services or nursing. At a minimum the program must be an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, medical assistant, LPN or nursing program
- Bachelors degree in Human Services or related field
