About the role

Kamehameha Schools is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to support our preschool programs. This role involves regular travel between Oahu and some neighbor islands.

Responsibilities

  • Provides behavioral health services to students individually and in groups.
  • Conducts assessments and provides counseling services.
  • Makes referrals and develops treatment plans as needed.
  • Communicates with families and coordinates off-campus services.
  • Trains staff and families on behavioral health topics.
  • Supports overall student well-being and participates on Student Success Teams.
  • Provides crisis intervention services and reports suspected child abuse/neglect.
  • Teaches classes and facilitates workshops for parents.
  • Provides 24-hour emergency intervention services for boarding students.
  • Works with dormitory advisors and recommends appropriate placements.
  • Conducts home visits on neighbor islands.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Mental Health, or related field meeting DCCA educational requirements for clinical licensure.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience.
  • Valid State of Hawaii clinical license (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate group counseling and teach behavioral health classes.
  • Professionalism, genuine concern for student well-being, excellent communication skills, and good public speaking skills.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with expressive arts/play therapy interventions preferred.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children and families.

  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate and coordinate off-campus professional services.

Pay

The starting annual compensation range for this position is $61,111.00 - $160,818.00, depending on qualifications and experience. The specific placement on the pay scale will be detailed in the employment offer.

Schedule

This position works Monday through Friday at normal business hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours required to meet goals and objectives.
